It's just as important to know where your wine comes from as your food. Wine should be grown, not manufactured. And editing out wine stains on teeth is so not authentic. :D

Is there a wine-buying version of "shopping the edges of the grocery store" to avoid over-processed, manufactured stuff?

Stick with wines that are labeled as "Estate." That means they were grown in the place where they were made and bottled. Alternatively, the more specific the origin designation, the less likely it is to be bulk wine with chemicals added. For example, "Napa Valley" is more specific than "California." Sub-designations like Rutherford or Carneros are even more specific than Napa.

Better yet, just stick with Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. All other wines just wish they were that great.

Taking time to relax once in a while is the key to staying sane and healthy. Come winter, I love to relax on a nice, long cruiser lap on my snowboard. Look at the trees. Feel the powder. Eat a sugar waffle covered in hot fudge... just vibe and enjoy winter. Pristine and quiet.

That sounds like exactly what I’m talking about. And now I want waffles.

Taking time to relax is so important. Life is too busy for so many of us. My favorite way to start the day and gain perspective is a wonderful hot cup of coffee on the my deck with my husband . Enjoying nature's sounds, a slight breeze, birds chirping, the warmth of the Sun.
