Hi Jennifer: Love this pesto idea. What can I used instead of a food processor? We've accumulated so much over the years. I'd rather not add anything to the counter or cupboards. Your newsletter is great! Thanks.
If you want to go way back to the old days you can use a mortar and pestle! Just roughly chop the basil beforehand to help the breakdown process, then just like with the food processor, add in everything but the oil and break it down. Then slowly add the oil in and keep breaking it down until you like the consistency. I’ve tried a blender before, but I find chunks of basil tend to get stuck in the bottom. If you do try with a blender, add in a little bit of water. It will make the pesto more “soupy” but it will help it break down easier. Good luck!

Agreed! I also never buy pasta sauces. I love making my own basil pesto, but it’s sadly seasonal.
It is a shame basil plants don't like the cold... using kale in pesto is great in winter though!
Never tried it, thanks for the tip!
Homemade pesto is an absolute delight.
Thanks!
Amazing as always!❤️
